The Soft Underground's Rachel (single)

NYC’s The Soft Underground has a new LP coming out in late July, but their newest single from Morning World is out in the world, and it is pretty awesome.

“Rachel” has a grungy fuzz rock sound that will make you miss the 90s. It’s like everything from the “Singles” movie soundtrack blended into one song that will shred your heart and soul. It’s like a time machine back to the 90s – and that would be a time machine many people would gladly board.

Vocals and drums are two of the things that will really catch your ear as you listen to this track. The distorted fuzz of the guitars sounds great, but as you get lost in the song that sound seems to fade from what you hear, and you’re left with killer vocals and drums that give the track a great beat.

If the rest of the album sounds anything like this song, it will be a stellar release. As it is, “Rachel” gets two thumbs up for being a powerful reminder of how awesome some of the music of the 90s was. You’ll want to dig out your Soundgarden albums after you give this a listen.
