The Soft Underground's Ghosts (Single)
Not too long ago you were introduced to The Soft Underground, with the release of their previous single, “Rachel.” With their new album, Morning World, coming out this week, it seemed like a good time to share another song of theirs.

“Ghosts” keeps up the post-grunge sound in this track, but it sounds different enough from “Rachel” that you can tell this band has a talent for making music – they aren’t simply recycling the same few cords throughout each song.

This song isn’t laced with the fuzzy guitar sounds of that previous track either. “Ghosts” is kind of a light-feeling song, though the lyrics are pretty deep if you take the time to listen. It’s upbeat in a calm and non-intruding sort of way. The instrumentation that is… with lyrics like “Gone, we’re all gone,” it’s obvious that the lyrics aren’t upbeat.

The vocals stand out the most on this track. You’ll enjoy the fact that this song still carries that 90s feel to it, and still embarks on a Singles movie soundtrack feeling that makes it not only a great track but nostalgiac as well. You’re still getting that “Seattle sound.”

If you’re a fan of stoner rock, grunge, post-grunge, and you’re looking for some creative music that pulls from those genres and feels authentic, you’ll find it from The Soft Underground. We should all be anticipating a chance to hear this entire album.
