Multi-platinum rock band Shinedown – one of the most successful, vital and forward-thinking powerhouses in modern rock over the last two decades, who were named #1 on Billboard’s Greatest Of All Time Mainstream Rock Artists Chart in 2021 – is hitting the road this year in support of their seventh studio album Planet Zero, out this April, with their biggest stage show yet, propelled by the undeniable power of front man Brent Smith’s voice. Planet Zero, due out April 22 on Atlantic Records, features the hard-hitting title track, the band’s newest single that has already amassed over 7 million streams since its release at the end of January, and just notched the band their 18th #1 at Active Rock Radio last week. The explosive and thought-provoking single is also Shinedown’s 17th #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs Chart, breaking a new record (which they also previously held) for the most #1s in the 40-year history of the chart and tying Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers for the second most Top 10s on the chart, behind only Foo Fighters. Shinedown’s most ambitious and masterfully realized work to date, Planet Zero is a high-concept, ultra-vivid, viscerally charged saga. A critical yet optimistic look at the fractures and frays of a society that has undergone many challenges in the last few years, the album is part social commentary and part in-depth exploration of the human psyche. Planet Zero, produced by Shinedown’s Eric Bass (who also produced the band’s 2018 acclaimed album ATTENTION ATTENTION), was written for everyone regardless of background or affiliation – Shinedown is asking us to stop looking at each other as demographics or talking points and start seeing each other as people. There is also triumph, hope and reminders that we all need one another on this album. It is the band’s impassioned striving for unity that has long been at the heart of their creative output and deeply informed the making of Planet Zero.
