Set for the Fall is an Alt-Metal group based out of Feyetteville, NC. Their album, 3 Nails is a great breakout album for the band. With their Christian themes, every song on the album is relatable to the pressures of life.
“Nerve” is a standout track that everyone can relate to. It opens with the line “So sick and frustrated with this world. they complicate it. How did they get the nerve?” The heavy presence of the guitar and drums mixed with the positive call of the song to “ignore the voice in your head…stop pleasing the people who live near the steeple and live and don’t forget,” it makes this song a great song to listen to when you’ve had a bad day. You can relate to the feelings in the song, and be uplifted while head-banging.
“Rising” is a great song about pushing back against everyday life that pulls you down. “I live anddie for my country. So you can take everything from me, but in the end I’m still rising, and, oh, I’m proud to say that I can proclaim, I’m covered by the grace of God.” The southern rock feel of this track is great to listen to, but the lyrics make it more empowering to shake off any negative feelings.
The final track, “Fight,” it reminds me of Breaking Benjamin’s new single “Red Cold River” with each hard “FIGHT” that’s sung throughout the track.
What stands out about this album is its capability to stand out on it’s own in two distinct and opposite genres. The deep and uplifting lyrics makes it a great Christian album to listen to. The hard sound of the band, makes it completely unlike most Christian rock albums, and fits in with the alt/metal genre. Regardless of your musical preference of Christian, or alt/metal, this album deserves a listen, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s available on all musical platforms.
