The Holy Warheads’ Gravity

The Holy Warheads' Gravity
Grand Rapids’ is home to a number of great rock bands, but The Holy Warheads is one of the bands that stands out. They formed in 2015, as somewhat of a local supergroup. Members have all been in numerous local bands over the years, some of them still playing in more than just this one band. However, one of the members that stands out the most is vocalist Joseph Henry. He is a talented vocalist with an amazing solo project titled American Zombie Inquisition (look it up).

Along with Henry, the band is formed by Ivan Hannah on guitar, Kevin Keefer on bass, and Brent Riva on Drums. They come together to culminate a sound that is intriguing, creative, and not entirely comparable to any other bands. They have a rock sound that borders on metal and psychedelic, with lyrics that touch on subjects in the news and from day-to-day life. They aren’t a cookie-cutter band, preferring to lace their talent throughout the instrumentation and lyricism.

Their new album Gravity drops on Friday, December 22, and offers riffs and rock goodness that outweighs even the music from their previous release.

The first track, “Blood,” touches base on subjects of men and women and where we stand as sexes in society. It’s a well-written song that will be enjoyed by both sexes.

“Salt” begins with an eclectic sound, feeling like something you might hear in an alternative shop. It leads to some great riffs. It has a mellow sound, the lyrics and Henry’s vocals work together to mesmerize you.

There are five total tracks on this new release, each of them offering something just a little different. It’s a collection of music that all fans of metal and rock can enjoy. This band has an amazing talent for creating tight tunes that drag you into the lyrics and won’t let you go. It’s metal that makes you think and rock that makes you righteous, as these warheads are Holy. Five stars, guys!
