Rocktoberfest 10-18-2018

Every year, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina hosts a combined Octoberfest/Concert event for the Marines, Sailors and their families, Rocktoberfest. This event is well attended by base personnel and is a great event to boost morale for America’s Finest. Still recovering from damages from Hurricane Florence, this concert did more for the military community to lift spirits and forget about the long days of recovery still ahead, at least for one evening. This year’s lineup included the headliner Nonpoint, Devour the Day, and He is Legend.

After the event highlights of drinking games, and stein races, He is Legend opened the night. The Wilmington-based hard rock band just finished touring with Nonpoint. The energy they brought on stage primed the audience of all ages for the night, starting up the circle pit early on in the set.

Devour the Day was next on the bill. The 3-member band packed a heavy punch with their set. Their latest album released a week after the concert, so it was a great sample of the greatness expected when Symbols releases.

Nonpoint finally hit the stage in a great mix of classic hits, and tracks from their newly released tenth album, X. Throughout the set, vocalist and lead guitarist, Elias and BC, performed in the crowd several times, from singing in the middle of the circle pit, to standing with fans in the pit, and facetiming on fan’s phones, they gave a performance memorable to all fans in attendance. Discussing his family legacy of military service, Elias thanked the servicemembers sincerely and dedicated “Bullet with a Name” to the military members. Ending the night with an epic cover of Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” and “What a Day,” all band members took time to greet fans as their stage was broken down.

He is Legend is going out on tour in November, and Devour the Day has their newest album releasing October 26th of this year, and Nonpoint is gearing up to tour with POD and their latest album just released earlier this year. Make sure you check the bands’ social medias for all updates.
