Hallow Point is an up-and-coming metal band from St. Louis, MO. They take their inspiration from bands like Trivium and Lamb of God. In their newest EP, Beyond our Name, metal fans can expect screaming vocals, heavy drums, and shredding guitar-play.
The band just came out with a new music video for the single “Blistering,” which is the last track on the EP. It has a great balance of their fast, energetic sound, the screaming vocals, and some melodic singing. The music video offers a great story to the song that’s uplifting about overcoming hard situations. As the song ends with a calming violin, it drives the image home, and adds a great soft element to the hard song.
Title track “Beyond our Name” is a favorite song of mine on the album. It begins with a guitar riff that reminds me of Metallica’s classic sound. The gutteral screaming lyrics work harmoniously with the melodic chorus. The song goes through a few transitions where the pace changes. With 40 seconds left of the song, my favorite transition picks up where it’s more rhythmic. This song is perfect for the mosh pit.
