Godsmack At Jiffy Lube Live 8-19-2018

The co-headlining tour featuring Godsmack and Shinedown made a stop at Jiffy Lube Live on Sunday night, also along on the bill for the night was Ohio’s Red Sun Rising providing support. Fans were treated to some of the best production of any tours making their way across the country at the moment. With plenty of fire and pyrotechnics during both Shinedown’s and Godsmack’s sets even the most veteran concert goer would have been grinning with approval.

The tour which kicked off in July is slated to run thru the end of October with Asking Alexandria joining for the October dates. Fans can purchase tickets as well as VIP upgrades HERE

Doors opened at 6 and Red Sun Rising took the stage at 7 to kick off the night. The Ohio based band played a quick opening set that consisted of eight songs consisting mostly of the bands more popular singles. The guys released their latest release, Thread back in March and kicked off the night with “Clarity” from the release before quickly moving into 2015’s “The Otherside.”

Red Sun Rising Setlist: Clarity, The Otherside, Amnesia, Veins, Emotionless, and Deathwish.

Co-headliner Shinedown hit the stage around 8 and wasted no time showing off the production of the tour with plenty of fire filling the stage during “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom).” Shinedown released their latest album, Attention Attention back in May only two songs from the album made the cut for the night’s setlist, those being “Get Up” and “Devil” which closed out the set. As with most Shinedown shows Smith took time to come down to the barricade to shake hands with fans before breaking in to “Cut the Cord.” During “State of My Head” fans filled the pavilion with light from their cell phones and during the cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” vocalist Brent Smith and guitarist Zack Myers went to the upper sections of the pavilion to get up close and personal with fans. Rounding out the night’s setlist were “Sound of Madness,” “If You Only Knew,” and “Bully.” Shinedown currently is showing their support for DC Strong by offering special merchandise on their website with proceeds going to the cause. Fans can purchase the hoodie or t-shirt HERE. Fans can also purchase VIP packages for the remaining dates of the tour HERE

Closing out the night was Boston’s own Godsmack. The guys kicked off their set with the title track from their latest release, When Legends Rise which was released back in April. Four tracks from the latest release made the night’s setlist with “When Legends Rise,” “Say My Name,” “Someday,” and “Bulletproof” all making the cut. With seven studio albums to pull from the night was filled with hits from the band and the over eleven thousand in attendance seemed to approve of the set which was filled with fire and pyrotechnics. One of the many highlights of the night was the dueling drum solo with Sully Erna joining Shannon Larkin on stage with his own full drum kit for “Batalla de los tambores.” Another highlight of the night was when Shinedown’s Zack Myers joined the guys for the Joe Wash cover of “Rocky Mountain Way.” The rest of the set was rounded out with hits like “1000hp,” “Cryin’ Like a Bitch,” “Voodoo,” “Whatever,” and “I Stand Alone,” which wrapped up the night. The guys in Godsmack will stay pretty busy for the rest of the year as the current tour will keep them out on the road until mid October before heading to Europe for the month of November. Godsmack will also be making appearances at this year’s Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals. Fans can purchase tickets as well as VIP packages HERE
