Common Ground Music Festival Day 4

Written By: Karie Okerstrom

Day four of Common Ground Festival started off with a freak storm that wiped out the Sparrow Stage and any sign that was up.  It was all quickly fixed and put back up and the show went off with just a slight delay.

I waited out the storm in a safe place and made it to the show  in time to catch French Montana on the Auto Value main stage. The Rabat, Morocco native who relocated to The Bronx showcased his underground hip hop talent Friday night.   French Montana played an hour long set, which included “Moses” and “Ain’t Worried About Nothing”.   The Sparrow stage was running behind all night and I was able to catch Detroit rapper, Icewear Vezzo.  He brought an impressive huge energetic crowd to the Sparrow stage.

Finally it was time for the Friday night headliner,  A$AP Rocky!   Starting his set a little late due to the weather delays. He hit the stage, using the long catwalk to jump and dance in front of the audience.  He played a mix of old and stuff off his latest album At. Long. Last. A$AP (2015)  The crowd responded energetically to “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2″ and almost every single other song!  The crowd was loud and rowdy and loved every minute of the set.   The front row was filled with young teenage girls singing along word for word and shrieking “We love you!”.

It was a wild night in Lansing, MI.  Onto day five of the six day festival….
