The Wild Wild at Heart

Wild at Heart is The Wild’s sophomore album, released two years ago. This band hails from Canada and has the perfect sound to fit in with rock legends with the likes of Guns and Roses, AC/DC and ZZ Top. With the raspy voice like Brian Johnson and the bluesy riffs, the first listen gives a sense of familiarity.

“Ready to Roll” is the first track on the album, and one of my fast favorites. It starts with a riff that gives them their signature blues/rock sound. With their “ready to roll” hook, it’s easy to start singing along the first time, and really gives a party feel to the whole album. “Best in the West” is another favorite of mine with its amped up sound of speed guitar and drums, and Dylan Villain’s (lead singer) laugh in the end just reinforces the “good time” feel of the whole album. The last track, “Kansas City Shuffle,’ instantly reminded me of “La Grange” with the guitar open, but was quickly joined by their hellfire drums giving it a great rhythm and energy.

While I try to not compare bands so much to other bands and focus on their unique sound, it’s hard for me with this album to not compare The Wild with AC/DC and ZZ Top. They have their blues and rockabilly sound that is uniquely The Wild’s, but it is worth mentioning that this band has that something special that’s recognizable with what made those classic bands so great.

Wild at Heart continues the party from their original album, GxDxWxBx, and shows exactly why the boys are called The Wild. The entire album is fun and the subject matter of every song boasts of having a good time, it’s hard not to have one when you’re listening to it.
