The Veer Union's Decade II: Rock & Acoustic

The Veer Union has been around for ten years now, so in celebration of entering their second decade as a band, they have released Decade and are soon releasing Decade II, a couple of aptly titled albums. In 2008, their first single was all over the airwaves. “Seasons” is still one of the most popular and well-known of the band’s songs, but they’ve been doing a lot since then.

Whatever they’ve been doing, they will be releasing this new collection of rock music at the end of August. It’s fresh and new and ready to be listened to. But first, The Veer Union is –  Crispin Earl on lead vocals, Dan Sittler on lead guitar and backing vocals, Ryan Ramsdell on rhythm guitar, and Ricardo Viana on drums.

Decade II, as its name suggests, is a blend of rock and acoustic tunes from the band. It contains 18 songs, many of them the bands biggest hits (though “Seasons” is not on it). It does have four new songs.

The first half of the album is exactly what you’d expect – a collection of alt-metal tunes that will remind you why you love this genre. The second half of the album is what really stands out though.

The track that really stands out the most in this collection is a cover of Linkin Park’s “Numb.” The Veer Union paid tribute to Chester Bennington (former lead singer of Linkin Park) on the one year anniversary of his death with this amazingly arranged acoustic cover of “Numb.”

The acoustic section of this album is the best and offers a new way to hear this genre of music. It’s much more intimate and touching. This is a 9-star album – five for the acoustic section and four for the rock half (only because they didn’t sway much from the basic sound of the genre of music they play in).
