Texas Hippie Coalition

Texas Hippie Coalition rolled into town for a wild night of Red Dirt Metal. Joining them were the up-and-coming Texas born and bred Sons of Texas. The quintet from McAllen, Texas is comprised of Mark Morales, who was joined onstage by drummer Mike Villarreal, bassist Nick Villarreal, guitarist Jon Olivares, and Jes De Hoyos on lead guitar.
The Battle Creek crowd was in for quite a shock when they witnessed the raw talent of this band. It was my fifth time seeing them and they get better every single time.

They performed a wild cover of Pantera’s “I’m Broken” and a variety of songs off their debut album Baptized in the Rio Grande, which was released March 3rd, 2015 on label Razor and Tie. The session included songs; “The “Vestryman”, “Blameshift”, “Slam With The Lights On”, and their hit “Baptized In The Rio Grande”. They closed their show with “Texas Trim”.
They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and the sound and presence of this band showed that is true.

Much to the excitement of the Battle Creek Crowd, the Texas Hippie Coalition hit the stage just after 11pm Friday night. The band from Denison, TX is comprised of: Big Dad Ritch – Vocals, John Exall – Bass Guitar, Cord Pool – Guitar, and Timmy Braun – Drums.
The mostly bearded crowd was full of members from the The Party Posse (a Texas Hippie Coalition fan club) who traveled from all over to see the Texans play. The audience was a large mix in ages from young children all wearing THC t-shirts, to old faithful fans clad in leather.
The story-telling vocalist Ritch is a commanding force on the stage. He has a loud, intense voice that demands the attention of the crowd. Bassist Exall never stopped moving and was a blast to watch and shoot, especially with his long hair flinging around non-stop! Braun intensely beat on his kit and Pool oozed gritty riffs from his ESP guitar. The entire band was there to entertain and draw you in.
THC is touring in support of their recent release of Dark Side of Black, which is their fourth release on Carved Records. They played a large range of their hit songs including; “Hands Up”, “Turn it Up”, “Pissed off and Mad About It” and also a few from the new album including the first single “Angel Fall”.
