The Resurrection Tour featuring Puddle of Mudd and special guests Saliva roll into Lexington along with Soli and Tantric.

A picturesque Sunday afternoon greeted Lexington concertgoers who lined up well in advance of the doors opening, not wanting to miss a chance to see the powerhouse lineup that was sound checking behind the closed doors.

As the final few lines of Bad Wolve’s Zombie blared out of the overhead sound system, Wes Scantlin and Puddle of Mudd casually took their places on stage, met with a nice ovation. Without hesitation, POM dropped straight into “Control” with a snippet of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” expertly melted in followed by “Drift & Die” and “Stoned.” The evening was off to a great start.

While not much for onstage banter, Wes and the guys let the music do all the talking as one familiar song after another came from the stage including “Psycho,” “Away From Me,” “Spaceship” and” Nobody Told Me” that had the venue jumping.

As the set and the evening was winding down Puddle of Mudd launched into a one of a kind rendition of AC/DC’s “TNT” before closing the evening with “She Hates Me” with an interesting snippet of “Summer Nights” from Grease rolled in and finally their huge hit “Blurry,” leaving everyone in attendance thoroughly entertained.

Puddle of Mudd is Wes Scantlin – vocals/guitar, Matt Fuller – lead guitar/backing vocals, Michael Adams – bass/backing vocals and Dave Moreno – drums/backing vocals.

Providing the main support on this tour are post-grunge masters Saliva. Blasting on stage with a purpose Saliva kicked off a hard and fast set that included covers of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” and Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” along with the Saliva staples “Always” and “Click Click Boom.”

Saliva couldn’t have been better tonight, pouring out energy at every turn and the fans were hooked from the opening chords of their first song; It seemed like the moshing slowly intensified as their set progressed.

Chicago, Illinois alt-metal rockers SOil performed second. With what can only be described as a frenetic set, SOil won over fans left and right as they rolled through “Breaking Me Down, “The Hate Song’” “Pride” and “Redefine”. The evening really got nuts as frontman Ryan McCombs jumped off the stage and over the barrier into the crowd as SOil performed their hit “Halo” followed by a Lead Belly cover of “Black Betty” where everyone was taking their turns singing. Back on stage and just before the lights came up Ryan addressed the crowd “Remember the music starts with you and ends with you! You are the reason for the music! Thank You!”

It was a homecoming of sorts for the show openers Tantric, as they were originally from right down Interstate 64 in Louisville. Tantric is touring in support of their upcoming album Mercury Retrograde, due to be released on October 5th, and treated fans with the lead single “Letting Go” along with “Hey Now” “Breakdown,” and “Mourning” during their time on stage.
