Saturday was Cinco De Mayo and what better way to celebrate than with a luau, Lunatic Luau to be exact. Lunatic Luau returned to the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, VA with a lineup that included, Pop Evil, Steel Panther, Sevendust, Bullet For My Valentine, Stone Temple Pilots, Stone Sour, Alice in Chains, and more. This year saw the festival move from its usual Friday to Saturday and also saw over 13 thousand in attendance.
Local Battle of the Bands winner RVNT got things started for the day over on the side stage. Things then quickly moved to the main stage where Tremonti took to the stage. Fans were treated to two new songs off the upcoming release A Dying Machine with “Take You With Me,” and “A Dying Machine” making the short festival set. Action swung from stage to stage thru out the day with Sevendust being next up on the main stage. Sevendust released their latest album All I See Is War on May 11th. Bullet For My Valentine was another band on the main stage who have a new album coming out this June when they will release Gravity.
Despite suffering an injury the night before at Carolina Rebellion, Corey Taylor took the stage with cane in hand which he quickly discarded as Stone Sour ripped thru a 12 song set.
Other notables on the day were Steel Panther closing out the side stage, Stone Temple Pilots introducing Virginia to new singer Jeff Gutt, and the return of Alice in Chains who closed out this year’s festival.
