Common Ground Music Festival Day 5

Written By: Karie Okerstrom

Saturday evening with the temperature in the mid 80’s the crowd filed into the Common Ground Festival the females mostly clad in shorts and cowboy boots and all eager to see Dierks Bentley.

Aubrie Sellers was the second act on the Auto Value main stage she opened up the show with “Light of Day” and played an impressive forty-five minute set.  Sellers had a great connection with the crowd and a lovely voice. I think we will hear more from her in the future.

Carter Winter came in from Ohio for the Common Ground Festival, to play the Pavillion stage.  His voice drew the crowd in, including me.  “Lipstick On My Bottle” was the highlight of his set which also included “Wine and Whiskey” and other songs off Winter’s Some Kind Of Fire EP.  Carter is truly a talented musician.

Canaan Smith, the Williamsburg, Virginia native took to the Auto Value main stage with authority.  The singer songwriter put on a really incredible performance, very charismatic with an intense connection to the crowd. Canaan played some of his biggest hits such as “Love You Like That” and “Hole In A Bottle”. One of the highlights of his performance was when he came onstage with a bottle of whiskey and poured it into the crowd and threw the bottle to a lucky fan. Canaan Smith is truly an act you need to go see.

The crowd eagerly await the arrival of Dierks Bentley on stage. Dierks Bentley opened up to stay with his song “Up On A Ridge” The fans reacted strongly singing along word for word with Bentley. Bentley paced  up-and-down along the cat walk interacting with everyone. He brought one lucky man on stage with him, on the cat walk to drink a beer. The entire crowd went insane is Dirks started his hit song “Somewhere On A Beach” Bentley belted out the lyrics to his hit songs for a good hour and a half set. “Drunk On A Plane” was another huge hit for the excited fans. The set list also included “5-1-5-0”, “What Was I Thinkin,” “Black,” “Freedom,” and “What The Hell Did I Say.”

Dierks Bentley‘s performance was a huge way to closeout a great Saturday night at the common ground festival. I advise anyone that’s never seen Dierks to definitely plan on attending the show, you will not be disappointed!
