Candlebox At House of Blues Myrtle Beach, SC 9-25-2021

Candlebox is out on tour now, supporting their brand new album, Wolves, just released September 19. Vocalist, Kevin Martin sat down with us earlier this year to discuss the album, check out that interview here http://sidestagemagazine.com/kevin-martin-of-candlebox-discusses-new-album-and-tour/

This tour, The Dead Dead’s were supporting Candlebox. Since the last time I’ve seen them perform, they’ve had some band member change ups and they’re now a 3 woman band.  I remember their sound being heavier the first time I heard them, but this performance was the perfect fit on tour with Candlebox, cause they had a grunge/emo girl band sound. They played new music from their upcoming album, including a beautiful acoustic cover, dropping soon. All the new music was very therapeutic in its aggro “it’s all going to be ok” theme. It’s the perfect music coming off the insane year 2020 was, and the residual effects 2021 is still having from it.

Candlebox then came and played a mix of old and new songs. They had an acoustic break, and a great Kiss and Guns N Roses medley before their set ended. This show was on the same night as UFC 266, and fans must’ve been feeling froggy to miss Volk and Ortega, cause there were quite a few fights during the set, where Kevin stopped the show. He turned it into a unifying moment of “hey, we’ve been stuck at home the last year and a half, can’t we just enjoy some music?”

This show in particular, the staff, especially security, from House of Blues deserves a shout out for their great work in managing a rowdy crowd.

Candlebox still has some dates coming up, and their album is GREAT! They’ve also remastered all their previous albums for vinyl, for those who like to hear music in that classic platform.  Head to www.Candleboxrocks.com for all their merch bundles and for tour dates.
