Winds of Plague At The Rail In Ft. Worth, TX 6/12/2016

California’s Winds of Plague swept through Ft. Worth on June 12th, infecting The Rail Club with their unique deathcore style.  With fellow metal-makers Rings of Saturn and Enterprise Earth at their side; Winds has been tearing it up as they headline The Time to Reap Tour through CA, AZ, NM and TX.  The group consists of Johnny Plague, Art Cruz, Alana Potocnik, Davey Oberlin, Michael Montoya, and Justin Brock.

Sunday night’s show pulled in a generous crowd that varied in age, but not in musical taste.  A quick scan of the cozy venue revealed an eclectic gathering, including the “cool mom” hanging out in the back while the younglings jammed up front.  Dallas’s own Drown This Kingdom definitely had what was needed to get the floor fired up.  Vocalist Chris Black’s enthusiasm laid it down hard and the group had a circle pit spinning halfway through the first song.  As the evening progressed, Enterprise Earth and Rings of Saturn only escalated the club’s momentum, nailing each song on their set lists.

By the time Winds of Plague hit the stage, fans were ready and rowdy.  The crowd swelled as the band raged through their first song.  Johnny Plague’s fierce vocals commanded the crowd as he pumped a clenched fist through the air.  Winds certainly crushed every song and played a diverse set.  However, it was clearly evident which album holds a special place deep within our little black hearts, and that record is Decimate the Weak.  Once the epic intro to “Origins and Endings” began, the audience went fanatic.  The energy persisted through “One Body Too Many” as Alana’s eerie keyboard melodies floated high above the thick double bass drums and deafening guitars.  If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Winds of Plague live, check them out because there are only a handful of shows left.
