Evanescence is one of the most well known female-led rock bands in the industry. The band has been around since 1995 when lead singer Amy Lee and former lead guitarist Ben Moody. The band has only released four albums during the time that they have been together, having several lineup changes and two hiatus’. Their fame started with their album Fallen in 2003 and their most recent album, Synthesis, was released in 2017.
Synthesis is said to be a stylistic change in the band’s sound, stripping out the rock guitars and drums and rebuilding them into a classical arrangement that reminded people of a soundtrack. The album was officially released in 2017 and there is talk that they are working on their next studio album.
Currently, Evanescence is participating in a short tour for Spring/ Summer 2019 which marks their return to a standard rock-group format, following the Synthesis Live Tour (which involved a full orchestra). Their last tour was the Evanescence Tour in 2011/2012. This mini-tour starts off at Welcome to Rockville on May 3rd.
