Underoath At Rams Head Live 5-8-2018

Underoath’s headlining tour made a stop in Baltimore, MD at Rams Head Live, And absolutely slayed their set!

With a pretty stacked lineup leading up to the insanely talented group of guys in Underoath, fans came early to check out LIMBS who started things off.

After a set by LIMBS, Veil of Maya took the stage full force and had everyone off their feet as they played a few songs during their time on stage. Some songs that may be familiar are “Whistleblower,” “LeeLoo,” and their closing song “Mikasa.”

After Veil of Maya, Dance Gavin Dance took the stage which I was expecting something spectacular from them due to their amazing energy on stage but I was quite let down production wise. But that didn’t stop them from giving off that amazing energy I was talking about. The music was definitely getting the crowd rowdy for Underoath to take the stage. The band played their hearts out to a good handful of songs including “We Own the Night,” “Chucky vs The Giant Tortoise,” and “Inspire the Liars.” Throughout their set it was nothing but a dance party with both vocalists Tilian Pearson and Jon Mess. The way they got lost within the music really made it clear how passionate they are about their career. The fans gave off such an energy that the band fed off of it was truly great!

After an amazing set by the Dance Gavin Dance crew up next was Underoath! And boy from what I’ve seen the production is insane on this tour. After a quick intermission the stage crew worked hard to set up music equipment and instruments along with a giant LED screen behind the band which could either be pleasant or not so much. The lights went out and immediately the screen lit up along with the band taking the stage starting the intro of the starting song “On My Teeth.” Currently in support of their latest record Erase Me the band played a good amount of songs off the release, as well as older hits the die hard fans enjoyed the most. To name off a few songs played throughout the night consisted of “The Blue Note,” “Rapture,” “Paper Lung,” and “Reinventing Your Exit.” The night was filled with endless crowd surfing, from fans trying to get as close as possible to the band and a lot of horns being thrown up in the air as each and every fan sang back to frontman Spencer Chamberlain. Not only was there good music being played, back to the production, some may say it wasn’t all that but if there’s a giant LED wall backing a band and amazing work of light art you’re in for a good show. Each time a different song was played the led wall matched or did something to correspond perfectly with the music. It was fantastic. As the night came to an end twelve songs later the band closes off their set with “A Boy Brushed Red Living in Black and White.” The band then returned for a two song encore which was “Bloodlust” & “Writing on the Walls.”
