Twenty One Pilots Bring the Bandito Tour to Buffalo

After releasing their latest album, Trench, in 2018, Twenty One Pilots have been road warriors. On Saturday, June 1st, the duo brought their “Bandito Tour” to thousands of screaming fans at the Key Bank Center in Buffalo, NY.

Lead singer, Tyler Joseph, and drummer, Josh Dun put on an unforgettable performance that no two others could top. However you classify Twenty One Pilots, the duo certainly has something for everyone. The audience ranged from young kids all the way to middle-aged adults and a whole lot of parents. Still touring behind their album, Trench, which featured singles such as “Jumpsuit” and “Levitate,” the duo performed all 14 songs. Mixed in with all the songs from Trench, Twenty One Pilots threw in songs from both previous releases, Blurryface and Vessel.

The show itself had all the bells and whistles to keep the entire crowd on its feet. The show started off with a burning car on stage with Josh Dun coming out with a burning torch. Once the car disappeared after a few songs, singer Tyler Joseph appeared up in the 300 section of the area and unmasked himself. When the duo were reunited on the stage, the square scaffolding type lighting structure kept everyone’s eyes drawn to the stage. There were also plenty of C02 cannons that shot off from inside the stage riser that created an entire wall of smoke.

During the middle of the show, a catwalk lowered from the rafters over the general admission floor that left all the fans reaching toward the ceiling. As soon as the catwalk lowered enough, Tyler climbed the ladder and walked across the catwalk to get to the mini stage by the soundboard. All by himself at the B-Stage, Tyler performed solo until Josh joined him by walking through one of the side tunnels. When the two were together at this stage, the lighting rig above them lowered and created an illusion that looked like rain. These lights came within just a few feet of the duo. When Tyler and Josh were done at the B-Stage, they both took the overhead catwalk to the main stage. This is when Josh revealed his custom Buffalo wings shirt to the Buffalo fans, causing a thunderous applause.

The evening ended with another set of songs back at the main stage with a few other surprises along the way. All in all, for just two guys, Twenty One Pilots put on a show that some bands with 5 or 6 members can’t even pull off. The sheer amount of energy that both Tyler and Josh put forward each and every night has to be noted. This is certainly not a tour to miss or a band to sleep on. Twenty One Pilots, even though they’re still considered “new” to the scene, are here to stay and will continue to grow for many years to come. The Bandito Tour will continue in the United States until June 30th where it wraps up in Columbus, Ohio. For more information, visit their website: http://www.twentyonepilots.com/
