Theory of a Deadman At The Tarheel In Jacksonville, NC 9-27-2019

Written By: Zaneta Padilla

The last week of September was a big week for Theory of a Deadman. September 25th, the music video for the newest single on their upcoming album came out. Check it out here. Just two days later, their new tour kicked off in Jacksonville, NC with Spirit Animal.

Spirit Animal opened the night. “The band not only proves 808s and guitars can coexist in harmony, but they also craft  airtight songs that would delight in any era.” They made a connection with the crowd early on, and the whole venue was singing along with their song, “Hydrate.”

As the crowd patiently awaited Theory to come on after Spirit Animal’s set, that familiar staccato piano beat started playing in the dark venue, as “Straightjacket” began. Throughout the set, audience members of all ages sang to every song. Vocalist, Tyler Connolly shook hands with the audience in between his switch off between piano and guitar.

Being a town with a big military population, Tyler connected with the audience, thanking them, and reminiscing of other military bases they were honored to play at. They then performed “History of Violence” which has a new video highlighting domestic violence. They closed the night with fan favorites “RX” and “Bad Girlfriend.”

Theory of a Deadman is currently on their Do Nothing tour and has an album releasing soon. Follow their social media for updates.
