Texas Hippie Coalition's High In The Saddle

Texas Hippie Coalition is releasing their sixth studio album, High In The Saddle later this month. The Red Dirt Metal band has that perfect blend of grit, country, and metal in their sound and this latest album definitely does not disappoint!

Opening the album is their latest single, “Moonshine.” It’s a perfect flagship song for the band. It’s such a great melody, and of course anything about moonshine is great and with lyrics as “My sweet baby, you’re my moonshine,” it makes a great backwoods love song. I especially love this song because it reminds me the most of the bearded brethren, ZZ Top. Big Dad Ritch delivers gritty, growly vocals in this song, as well as the rest of the album, that makes the blend of country rock, and metal.

“Dirty Finger” is the next track on the album. It’s a great f*** you song as it’s all about giving someone the finger–the dirty finger. On top of being a rebel anthem, the guitar solos showcase the band’s talent with incredible speed.

“Ride or Die” of course deserves mention since it’s the slow song of the album, and you already know those are my favorite. Big Dad Ritch delivers softer vocals and lyrics that make an impact of “tears fall down, cause you’re not around,” that really deliver the pain behind the song of a missing love.

High In The Saddle is a great album and needs to be in your library. It’s a perfect fit for shooting pool in a country bar, and for moshing in a concert hall. I love that they stay true to their Texas roots, but metal is infused with heavy vocals and hard instruments. The album releases at the end of May, make sure you pre-order your copy at the band’s website and follow for updates.
