Tantric at Hooligans in Jacksonville, NC 5/28/2021

Written By: Zaneta Padilla

The late 90’s Rock band made a stop at Hooligans in Jacksonville. NC May 28. With live music still making a slow come back to the area, this show was ready to rock!

The bill was STACKED with 4 local support bands of local favorites and up-and-comers, Defile the Crown, To Begin Anew, Magg Dylan, and Waking Tera. The performance that stood out for the evening was Magg Dylan, coming down from Virginia. The female-fronted hard rock band had the crowd rowdy all night, ending it with the heavy version of Alannis Morisette’s “You Oughta Know” that we didn’t know we needed.  Waking Tera then brought down the house with their set. This local favorite, with a recent new album release, had probably as many people for their set as did the headliner. They’re a band you’re going to need to follow!

Tantric came out and there was such a light feeling with everyone in the venue that fans were just so happy to have music again, and the band was happy to be there. That mutual feeling of relief and elation made it one of the best shows I’ve been to in so long, seeing some of the biggest, most genuine smiles in the crowd. Throughout their entire set, horns were thrown, fists pumped in the air, and hair was flying with epic headbangs. Tantric singer, Hugo Ferreira then came out to the merch table after their set to meet all the fans.

This show was more than just a night of great music, with all the bands that played and all the fans, it was a night that perfectly encompassed how the music scene is really a family.

Tantric will be on tour the rest of 2021, into November. If you get a chance to see them, definitely go out and have a great time with great music! Head to their social media for ticket and date information. www.facebook.com/tantric
