Steel Panther At The Ritz 10-25-2018

Written By: Zaneta Padilla

80’s Rock is still alive and Steel Panther and The Wild! are here to prove it! Both bands are touring together bringing glam rock and classic 80’s rock that blazed the trail for what we know as rock today back to the stage. Making a stop in Raleigh October 25th, their Sunset Strip Live tour was altered for the season as a Spooky Strip Live.

Could there be a better band to open for Steel Panther? Probably not. Walking on stage with custom denim vests, tattoos and glorious facial hair, The Wild! came on swinging with reckless abandon. The Wild! isn’t just their band name, but the personality the band embodies. They performed their set with such an intense energy that amped the audience up for the night.  Dylan Villain, on vocals, was on fire with his AC/DC voice and his acrobatic moves on guitar. The Kid, on guitar, was a fan favorite with his handlebar mustache and his speed on stage and guitar. The rhythm section was electric with Rowdy Rawd and the magnificently bearded bass player, Boozus.

Steel Panther took to the stage with one mission: to bring back 80’s Rock N Roll to The Ritz. With their fabulous big hair, flashy spandex, and painted faces, they opened with “Backdoor.” Their banter in between songs was just as entertaining as their music as they lead with several dirty jokes, self-deprecating humor, and Halloween puns. Cat-eared Lexxi Foxx was a fan favorite with his bored, yet fabulous attitude and primping on stage. Satchel, on lead guitar, was the most entertaining being behind most of the jokes and stories between songs. Michael Starr was amazing on stage as he killed all of their songs, but many 80’s classics from Bon Jovi, to Def Leppard, to Van Halen, and then a phenomenal transformation to the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy. Even though he was behind drums most of the night, Stix Zadinia was a highlight with his impressive solos, and his versatility in their acoustic “Girl from Oklahoma,” where they brought a fan on stage to serenade her in dirty jokes and melodies. During Satchel’s solo, he played a mashup of several 80’s rock classics, and then stepped behind Stix’ set to balance guitar and drums, showing what true performers Steel Panther are.

Steel Panther and The Wild! Still have several tour dates, and will be heading over to Europe soon. You owe it to yourself to catch them live to relive the greatest decade of rock, and enjoy their fabulous personalities and great music. Stay up-to-date on both band’s social media.
