Shinedown kicked off the current leg of their Attention! Attention! Tour in Roanoke, VA on the 17th, Thursday was night two of the tour in Bristow’s Jiffy Lube Live. The tour which is slated to run thru October 19th when it wraps up in Boise, ID also includes Papa Roach, Asking Alexandria and Savage After Midnight.
This is a must-see tour this fall with all four amazing bands on the bill. Memphis’ Savage After Midnight hit the stage first and came out swinging with their dual vocalists Shi Eubank and James Thomas who also plays keyboards setting the tone for the night. The guys released their EP, 11:59 back in March. The EP has produced two singles, “Unleashed” which they kicked off the set with and “10 Feet Tall” which they closed out the night with also mixed in with the band’s set was the Alanis Morissette cover of “You Oughta Know.”
Despite some sound issues during Asking Alexandria’s set Danny Worsnop and crew still put on an amazing set. The guys kicked things off with their latest single, “Violence,” the single has fans looking forward to a new album to be released in the near future. The rest of the set consisted mostly of material from the self-titled 2017 release with songs like, “Into the Fire,” “Vultures,” and “Alone in a Room” making the cut.
If anyone knows how to bring a crowd to their feet from start to finish, it’s veteran rockers Papa Roach. The band released their tenth studio album Who Do You Trust? earlier this year and definitely brought their “A” game on this night. Papa Roach’s set was a great mix of newer material and classic hits that fans have coem to love from the band. During “Elevate” the always energetic Jacoby Shaddix decided to take the show out to the crowd as he left the stage and made his way thru the pavillion during the song. The rest of the set was filled with hits like, “Getting Away With Murder,” “Gravity,” “She Loves Me Not,” “Scars,” “Born for Greatness,” and of course the classic “Last Resort” to close out the set.
Closing out the night was Shinedown, the curtain dropped as large pyrotechnics exploded in the background bringing the full pavillion to its feet. The set kicked off with “Devil,” “Diamond Eyes,” and “Enemies” with plenty of accompaning pyrotechics to go with the elaborate production the band has brought out for this tour. At the beggining of “Enemies” vocalist Brent Smith came down to the front of the stage to shake hands with those working in the baricade as well as some lucky fans close enough to reach out to him. From their the guys made the live debut of “Attention Attention” which the band just released the video for. Other highlights of the night included, “Monsters,” “45,” “Bully,” Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” “Cut the Cord,’ and “Sound of Madness.” Shinedown are one of those bands that just seem to get better and better with each tour, and I’ve yet to catch them on an off night. To say this is a must see tour of the fall would be an understatement.
