It might seem uncommon to have a mariachi band come out of Liverpool, but Roja is just that. They are a very talented band that has an awesome sound. They kind of made me think of The Refreshments, which sort of has a mariachi sound at times.
“Company” is an awesome single that embodies the mariachi sound well. It has some deep vocals that come off a bit eerie at times. The music is beautiful. The b-side to this song is a mariachi cover of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”. While the beginning of this cover may not sound very mariachi like, just keep listening. This version makes the song sound much darker. It’s a slower beat as well, but the song still sounds great.
