MCAS Cherry Point’s annual Rocktoberfest returned this year after COVID cancelled the last years. Marine and Sailor personnel and their families welcomed the live music and beer festivities.
This year’s lineup had Jacksonville local band To Begin Anew. This is. The new up and coming metal band for North Carolina as they’re popping up on several metal bills in the area, including a recent Nonpoint and Blue Ridge Festival. To Begin Anew got a decent mosh pit going in the crowd. With live music returning, pits haven’t quite returned, so it was a welcome site to see.
Fuel was the big name of the night. John Corsale is the new singer of the band, joining in the last year and taking this last year to work on an album with the band, which several of their new songs were performed. They had such an amazing energy and stage presence and the chemistry among old and new members was great! They ended the night with their signature song, Hemorrage, and an AC/DC cover of Highway to Hell just for the “Devil Dogs.” Their cover of that song was incredible and sounded just like the original band—it’s the closest to AC/DC I’ll ever get to see live, so I loved every second of it.
Their new album released October 22 and they’re back on tour now, so head to their social media to follow for updates. Www.Facebook.com/fuelofficial
