DED's School For Thought

DED just released their long awaited sophomore album, School For Thought.  They’ve been releasing singles off the awaited album over the year, and the day is finally here for the full album, and it does not disappoint! Their first album, Mis-An-Thorpe has had over 25 million streams with 2 top 20 hits.  Their second album is promising of the same success.

Singer Joe Cotela says of the new release, “we are elated release our sophomore album, School for Thought, as we really pushed ourselves outside of our comfort zone and that’s where growth and great things can happen. A school of thought is the perspective of a group of people who share common characteristics of opinion or outlook of a philosophy, cultural movement, or art movement. That’s what DED Nation is. It speaks to the lyrics and the foundation of the ethos of DED’s message. We cover themes of self-empowerment, mental health, darkness, anger, futility, false idols, and being the change you want to see amongst others.”

My instant favorite from the album is “Love Story,” featuring Joe Cotela’s love, Maria Brink from In This Moment.  The heavy instrumentals blended with their soft voices make a great love song, especially with lyrics of “whenever I’m alone with you, you make me feel like I’m home again…whole again…alive again.” It feels like a peek into their real life relationship, and I am here for it!

“My Blood (My Family)” is another favorite of mine with the lyrics that speak of strong family ties, dying for family and the importance of family and loved ones.

School For Thought is out digitally now, and physical copies and mercy bundles release November 15. Make sure you’re following the band for all release news. www.Facebook.com/dedofficial
