The Prince of Darkness made what could be his final appearance in Northern Virginia on Friday night when the ‘No More Tours 2’ tour stopped in at Jiffy Lube Live. The tour kicked off back in April at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Jacksonville, FL and will wrap up in the US on October 13th in Las Vegas. Ozzy stated in an interview earlier in the week that the tour isn’t necessarily his last tour or the last time that he will perform, just that he will be cutting back on touring to spend time with family.
Over sixteen thousand had filled the venue by the time Stone Sour took the stage for their ten song opening set. Stone Sour recently released a deluxe edition of their 2017 release, Hydrograd. The deluxe version includes several unreleased songs as well as covers by Soundgarden, Van Halen, and Rage Against The Machine. It was a little disappointing not to get the typical full set which includes songs from their debut album, but the night’s set was full of current hits. Most of the night’s set came from the latest release with five tracks making the list. The rest of the set was rounded out with ‘Do Me a Favor,” “Absolute Zero,” “Through Glass,” and the acoustic solo performance of “Bother” by Corey Taylor. Fans continued to pour into the venue and merchandise lines were long when Ozzy took the stage for a classic mix of Ozzy and Black Sabbath hits. Ozzy was surrounded by familar faces on stage with Zakk Wylde returning on guitar, Rob “Blasko” Nicholson on bass, Adam Wakeman on keyboards, and Tommy Clufetos on drums. With over five decades and twenty albums under his belt there was no shortage of material to pull the night’s fifteen song set from. Zakk Wylde took to the crowd at the end of “War Pigs” for a ten minute guitar solo that included snippets of “Miracle Man,” “Crazy Babies,” “Desire,” and “Perry Mason.” that left the fans of Jiffy Lube Live awe struck. The set wrapped up with “Crazy Train” with Ozzy and the gang returning to the stage for a two song encore consisting of “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” and the Black Sabbath classic “Paranoid.” Fans can purchase tickets for the remaining dates HERE.
