Live Review: Misadventures Tour featuring Pierce The Veil, I the Mighty and Movements

The summer concert season is heating up in New York City and fans were lined up around the block by early afternoon for the sold out Misadventures Tour at Irving Plaza which featured performances from headliner Pierce The Veil and special guests I the Mighty and Movements.

While the show was slated to begin at 7:30 PM, there was a 30 minute delay due to heightened security at the venue. Shortly past 8pm, with much of the main floor filled in and fans still eagerly awaiting to enter outside, Movements, a 4-piece band from Southern California took to the stage, playing songs from their recently debuted EP ‘Outgrown Things.’

Just before 9 PM and the house packed in tightly, screams broke out for I the Mighty, an alternative rock band from San Francisco, CA who is signed to Equal Vision Records. While the crowd was filled with die-hard Pierce The Veil fans, the catchy melodies featured on I the Mighty’s 2015 release Connector appeared to resonate with the bobbing heads around the floor. And much like the headliner, I the Mighty is no stranger to the Vans Warped Tour scene, so it was no surprise that fans in the audience who are immersed in that music scene were quickly won over by the band. In addition, lead singer and guitarist Brent Walsh managed to keep new listeners captivated throughout the set. Overall, the reaction felt as positive as Walsh’s on-stage gratitude, which was frequently expressed between songs.

As the clock approached 10 PM, deafening cheers erupted through Irving Plaza as Pierce the Veil took to the stage. This tour is a celebration of the band’s brand new album, Misadventures, which they played in its entirety for the hour-plus set that ended with 2 old fan-favorites, “Bulls In The Bronx” and “King For The Day.” We caught up with bassist Jaime Preciado and drummer Mike Fuentes before the band’s set – check out our interview HERE.
The Misadventures Tour hits cities across North America for the remainder of June before heading to Europe!
