James Adkins' Brokedown Free Man Blues
Ohio’s James Adkins is a talented musician whose music falls into the categories of Americana, folk, and blues. It’s a country sound, without the twang. It’s story-filled music with amazing guitar work that adds a little something to each song.

If you’re not buying this guys talent, he was the South Alabama Flat Picking Champion in 2013, and he’s endorsed by Bedell/Breedlove Guitar.

Brokedown Free Man Blues came out not too long ago, and it’s an amazing album. Here’s a look at a few of the songs that stand out the most.

“Don’t Say Goodbye” is the album’s lead single. This song introduces you to Adkin’s perfect vocals. He’s singing music that could easily be played on country music stations, but it has more to it than just that country feeling. Each song tells a story, and Adkins gives a rock vibe to this song, giving it an extra edge. Stick around for the guitar solo, it’s awesome.

The title track, “Brokedown Free Man Blues,” is one of those songs that you just have to listen to. It has a bluesy sound to it, and it’s one of those songs that most people will find something they can relate to within the lyrics. It’s a story about life.

“Ghost” is one of the most beautiful songs on this album. It has a hauntingly slow feeling that hits you deep. It’s a song about lost love, about ghosts of the past, about the past in general.

James Adkins has created a beautiful collection of music that will give you goosebumps more than once.
