Jaicee Rentz's Colors

A little over a month ago you read a review of Jaicee Rentz’s single “Superzoomy Space Songs.” It is a fun and eclectic song that will stick in your head and make you love music again. Now the entire EP, Colors, is available and it’s worth checking out.

Rentz is only 16 years old, but her music is easily comparable to the talents and sound of popular acts like Halsey and Lorde. For fans of Top 40 dance music, you can’t go wrong with this album (especially that first single).

“Colors”

The title track, “Colors,” starts with a beautiful piano intro. It’s hard not to get absorbed into well-played piano music. There is a sadness to this sound, and to this song.

Keep listening. You’ll hear so many strange and beautiful sounds – from some male vocals to the calls of an owl, and maybe even a kazoo.

“Momma Birdy”

This is a folky sounding tune, with such a simplicity that you just can’t help but love it. It’s easy to picture the lyrics of this song, like reading a story you love.

“Yesterdays Night”

This is a song for the singer/songwriter in you. This song feels more experimental than the others.

The best thing about this EP is that each song has a bit of a different sound to it. It’s an eclectic collection of music that really gives you a taste of the talent this young girl holds. Definitely a five-star collection of songs.
