Heather O'Neill's Transmute and Lady Blue (singles)

Heather O’Neill is an Irish born Chicagoan who has used her many life experiences to create some beautiful music that has a touch of blues and soul laced with her dreamy vocals. These first two songs from her upcoming EP are delightful songs that are reminiscent of music from Ani DiFranco and even have a little bit of a Natalie Merchant feel to them from time to time.

“Transmute” has a groovy beat that feels a little bluesy. O’Neill’s light and airy vocals make this a relaxing and attractive song. It feels like a nice spring day, filled with just a light enough breeze to make it comfortable and enjoyable. This song is clever and interesting, and O’Neill’s higher notes really stand out and make the track unique.

“Lady Blue” has an authentic singer/songwriter sound with the acoustic guitar leading the vocals along an easy to listen to progression. This is a song you’d imagine hearing live at a coffee shop. It’s authentic and imaginative. O’Neill’s voice is mesmerizing.
