The Great Escape's Universe In Bloom

On this wild and crazy new album from The Great Escape, you’ll find that vocalist Ingrid Andersson often sounds like she’s channeling the late great Amy Winehouse. She has some powerful vocals that sometimes have a smoky edge to them, other times she sounds cute, childish, and fun. It’s a great combination.

The songs sound big, with a vintage big band kind of feel. There is a lot going on in this album and it all meshes well. If you like oldies then you’ll love this album, even though it’s far from old. It’s fresh and creative.

The standout song on this album is definitely “Good Day.” All of the songs on Universe In Bloom sound amazing, but this song has something extra special. It’s peppy and bright. It kind of has the same effect as Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.” This video, http://bit.ly/2sJ7coa, for “Good Day” is more than a music video, it is also a documentary about how people experience a “Good Day.”
