Good Charlotte today released “Shadowboxer”, the second single off their anxiously awaited seventh studio album Generation Rx. The song is available to stream and download now HERE. The band also released an accompanying music video for the track, directed by Jake Stark. In line with Generation Rx’s lyrical themes, the video for “Shadowboxer” is a solitary look at what appear to be everyday people confronting the pain and struggle that is reflected back at them as they look at themselves the mirror. Such pain is often not visible to others as the stigma of mental health issues forces many people to suffer in silence. Watch it HERE.
Due for release on September 14, 2018 via a newly minted global partnership between the band’s MDDN label and BMG, Generation Rx is available for pre-order starting today HERE. The band also launched an collaboration with LA streetwear brand Chinatown Market, including limited edition shirts, sweatshirts, stickers, and more. This fall, Good Charlotte will embark on a massive North American Tour in support of Generation Rx that will kick off on October 12, 2018 in Mexico City, and wrap on November 24, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. Tickets for the tour will be available starting today at 10:00am local time HERE. Good Charlotte will return to the road in Europe and The UK for a tour kicking off February 1, 2019. Generation Rx represents both a new chapter and full circle moment for the group-brothers Joel [vocals] and Benji Madden [guitar, vocals], Billy Martin [guitar], Paul Thomas [bass], and Dean Butterworth [drums]. Powered by punk spirit, rock songcraft, and cinematic ambition, they retain the signature vitality and vulnerability of their formative years, while delivering an urgent, unafraid, and undeniable message befitting of two decades in the game.
The quintet craft intricate, yet infectious anthems of hope for a generation under the shadow of the Opioid epidemic, icons gone too soon, mass tragedy, loneliness, and confusion. Produced by Zakk Cervini and Benji during intimate sessions at MDDN headquarters, the record finds Good Charlotte doing what they do best-speaking directly to the youth.
