From Ashes to New The Future

From Ashes to New The Future

The album opens up with “Wake Up”. Blending rap and metal, some nice guitar riffs and some screamo moments, it is a great intro for the rest of the upcoming songs on the album. Popular single “Crazy” goes a little more pop, but its relatable lyrics make it very radio friendly and may appeal to a broader base. “My Name” has been all over the airwaves lately. With its mix of metal and hip hop, it meshes the two genres seamlessly and illustrates the band’s path and Matt’s struggle and journey through his music career. Some other notable songs on the album include “Let Go” and “On My Own” “Let it Go” is a rock style song with some clean vocals and beautiful instrumentals that combine to make a very nice rock ballad. I like that they stayed away from the rap and hip-hop influence in that track and kept it simple. “On My Own” has some of the rap mixed in and is a little reminiscent of a Linkin Park style song.

One of the less successful songs on the album is “Nowhere to Run”. A combo of rock and rap like several on this release, but its werewolf theme throws me off and the music and the lyrics just don’t seem to want to work together on this track and it doesn’t come off right. They could have left this track off and it would not have been missed.

From Ashes to New, currently consist of members Matt Brandyberry (Vocals/Guitar/Keys/Programming), Danny Case (Vocals), Lance Dowdle (Guitar), Mat Madiro (Drums). Matt is the founding and only consistent member in the band, as they have had their fair share of member changes throughout the years. The latest album The Future released April 20, 2018, by Better Noise Music.

They are currently on tour with Ice Nine Kills and they are playing INKcarceration and Rock USA in July, so go check them out. You can check out more tour dates and info about the band on their website at www.fromashestonew.com. Music is available for download on Spotify, iTunes, Google Play, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

This album has a nice mix of styles and has the potential to pique the interest of many different listeners. I give it a 6.5 out of 10
