Dropkick Murphys At Tags 6-2-2018

This past Saturday, we ventured up to Big Flats, NY to check out the co-headlining Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly show. While arriving, the summer stage was packed with fans rocking their merch supporting both acts and green shamrock’s.

Jake Burns opened the night up with a solo performance on an acoustic guitar. Fans paid some attention, but overall kept on with their regular conversation out in the crowd. He shared lots of stories from the homeland and really rocked the acoustic guitar for a one man show. He also played some covers from Stiff Little Fingers which had fans singing along.

Flogging Molly kicked things into high gear for fans as they were up on their feet and singing along. There were a number of fans also on their feet dancing along to the sounds. They played through an extensive set and seem to hit all the fan favorites: Drunken Lullabies, Salty Dog, What’s Left Of The Flag, and of course: The Seven Deadly Sins. What impressed us most is right after their set they jumped right down into the barricade and out into the crowd to sign autographs and take photos with fans.

If you thought things were hype for Flogging Molly, just wait until the sun set and The Dropkick Murphy’s took the stage. They did not wait until the end of the set to jump on the barricade and sing along with fans, they did it right from the start. Security was not used to all the action it seemed, and took them a bit by surprise as fans started surfing up to get close to their heroes. The energy seemed non-stop for Dropkick as they powered through an impressive seventeen song set with fans singing along for every bit. The crowd was not ready to part with just the seventeen tracks, and roared for an encore. Sure enough, they came back out and delivered an impressive 5 song encore topped off with AC/DC’s Dirty Deeds Done Cheap. They brought a number of fans up on stage during the encore to finish the night off, surely a night none of them will ever forget.
