Doyle at the Calico Room 11-18-2018

Written By: Zaneta Padilla

In the middle of their “As We Die Abomination” tour, Doyle played in Wilmington in an intimate venue, The Calico Room. The venue was small, but offered such a cool backdrop for the night. With it’s eccentric collection of paintings on the wall, and the small wrap around area for fans, and a Lebowski-style rug that tied the room together, it helped fans connect with the artists.

Opening the night at 8 was the metalcore band, Played By Kings. Fans were still trickling in around this time, so their audience was small, but their energy on stage was electric, and they managed to get the small crowd moshing.

Another local favorite, Abstractionist, was next on the lineup. During their soundcheck, they went “balls-to-the-wall” and instantly the audience was amped up, and laughed thirty seconds later when the mini show was over. When their actual set started, the crowd rushed to the stage, and more moshers came out. They played a cover of “Toxicity” that was amazing.

Doyle finally took the stage around 10 and the crowd of misfits huddled around the stage. Doyle Woflgang Von Frankenstein was a beast on stage with his hulking physique, and his shredding on guitar. Alex Story was intense. He was all over the stage, and you could see every ounce of his energy pour into the mic. In between every song, he addressed the audience and introduced every song. They were all “love songs, and you can dance if you want to.”

Doyle is currently on tour for their As We Die Abomination tour” for both albums. They’ll be releasing more tour dates, and some new music along the way. Head to their facebook to stay informed of the most up-to-date news. www.facebook.com/OFFICIALDOYLE
