Dashboard Confessional At The Ritz 3-26-2018

Written By: Zaneta Padilla

Dashboard Confessional just kicked off their “We Fight” Tour March 20 for their February album release of Crooked Lines. Their Raleigh show was played at The Ritz.

Opening for Dashboard Confessional, was Kississippi. The lead singer opened up an acoustic solo, before being joined by the rest of the band. They had a great mix of harmonic vocals and heavy drums and guitars.

Following Kississippi was Beach Slang. The front man played homage to Gene Simmons, or what he referred to as the “Sonny and Cher version of Gene Simmons,” with back-bending guitar riffs and water tricks on stage. With the atmosphere of The Ritz, and the band’s retro look, it gave a nostalgic feel of being back in the 90’s. They played a “mixed-tape” of 90’s songs with portions of songs by Matchbox20, Marcy Playground, Smashmouth, Thirdeye Blind, Oasis and Lit. Their original songs are unique and appease to rock lovers of all kinds as they take their influences from the classic hair bands of the 70’s and alternative bands from the 90’s.

Chris Carraba came out solo to start the night with “Turpentine.” Throughout the set, he took many breaks to interact with the audience, giving the room full of hundreds of people, an intimate-feeling night, he even took time to sing “Happy Birthday” to a fan in the crowd. Throughout the setlist, there were eerie moments of silence as the room full of fans wouldn’t utter a word of conversation, but would focus on the songs and sing along.

Dashboard Confessional will be touring US cities until May 11. Check their facebook page for more information, and buy their latest album, Crooked Lines from their website, itunes, amazon or Google Play, and look out for their guitar player, Armon Jay’s new album release, Del Rio coming soon!
