Formed in Dayton, Ohio, Dangerkids are a post, metal-core and electo-core hybrid group is a more modern approach to hybrid bands such as Linkin Park. One of the things that separates this group from their predecessors is the fact that these guys truly have created their own sound that completely stands out from other modern-day groups. They recently released their latest album blacklist_on January 27th after an almost three-year gap since Collapse was released back in 2013.

Blacklist_ is truly one of the most addictive records I have heard in a very long time. Opening track “Kill Everything” begins the album with some electronic/computer sounding guitar distortion which truly is an opening for the album. The album’s title track offers some hard-hitting riffage and incredible drumming that really shows how far the group has come since the release of Collapse.

The songs following the two main opening tracks are absolutely fine examples of how polished and more well-rounded the group has truly become. Hard hitting lyrics, breakdowns, electronic synthesis and plenty of intense drums really make this album one that will definitely be in my playlist for quite a while.

Probably my absolutely favorite track on the entire album is “Ghost in the Walls”. I have found myself listening to it over and over again without getting tired of it. Something about the electronic piano sounding intro mixed with the guitars and drumming just really makes it an addicting song. I personally would love to see this track be the next single for the group. You could say the same thing about “Summoners’ Rift” as well. Probably the most unique thing about the album is how they round it out. To close an album with an acoustic song riddles with an absolutely acoustic arrangement that really takes the listener off of the adrenaline high that the rest of the album presents.

Blacklist_ truly is the album that is going to get the Dangerkids the attention that they deserve. As said before, I will definitely keep the entire album on repeat in my playlists. Dangerkids are currently on tour with Falling in Reverse, Issues and Motionless in White for the “End is Near” tour through February 12th.
