Tuesday April 2nd 2019, Los Angeles, CA -The inaugural Swanfest, headlined and curated by Post Hardcore heroes Dance Gavin Dance took place at National Grove of Anaheim this past Saturday and saw a sell-out crowd of 7500 fans descend upon the iconic OC venue for a day of incredible musical performances. Watch the wrap-up video below:
Under the glorious sunshine of the hottest day of the year so far, crowd surfers, mosh pits and sing-alongs abounded as the two outdoor stages played host to a 16 band bill hand selected by festival creators Dance Gavin Dance. Speaking on the phenomenal success of the event, Dance Gavin Dance say:
“Not even in our wildest dreams did we expect a total sell-out for the festival’s first year. We decided to go it alone and create our own event to showcase the world of incredible music being made that isn’t being acknowledged elsewhere. We wanted to put a line-up together that included some really popular, established bands as well as some truly incredible underground bands that fans may not be aware of yet. The fact that the event sold out and pretty much everyone that came was here for the first band is testament to how much appetite there is for awesome music and whilst there may not be huge industry attention, the scene is very much alive and kicking!
We want to thank our team for helping us make this dream a reality, the City National Grove Of Anaheim for having us, the security staff for doing an amazing job of keeping people safe and most importantly, the fans for coming and making the first ever Swanfest a HUGE success. We look forward to doing it again next year.”
Swanfest showcased a variety of today’s hottest bands including Periphery, Don Broco, Crown The Empire and We Came As Romans as well as some of post and melodic hardcore’s best up and coming acts including Wolf and Bear, Sianvar, Volumes and Hail The Sun.
The festival also kicked off Dance Gavin Dance’s nationwide Artificial Selection Tour with support from Periphery, Don Broco, Hail The Sun, Covet and Thousand Below that is set to play 30 dates across North America culminating in 2 recently added shows at the EL Rey in Los Angeles. Dance Gavin Dance will also be playing this year’s Warped Tour event in Mountain View, Ca on July 20th and Rock USA in Osh Kosh, WI on July 19th.
