BORN OF OSIRIS RE-SIGNS WITH SUMERIAN RECORDSAS 10 YEARS IN THE BLACK TOUR BEGINS |

Sumerian Records, the Los Angeles-based label who the LA Weekly dubbed “one of the world’s most successful independent metal labels,” have re-signed Born of Osiris on the eve of the band’s, and label’s, celebratory 10 Years In The Black tour.
“It’s an honor and a pleasure to announce that we will be extending our contract with Sumerian Records,” said Born of Osiris’ Lee McKinney. “To be honest, it didn’t even need to be given second thought. We do business with family, and that’s what Sumerian has been for coming up on a decade now. I remember being in high school and over-drafting my bank account on plane tickets to get Sumerian to come out to watch us play a small suburb of Chicago in a VFW hall. I waited until my 18th birthday to sign our record contract and nothing was the same after that. It was the best decision we’ve ever made. Everyone we know in this industry in one way or another is thanks to the family that we call Sumerian. They were the first to believe in us, and we had the honor of being one of their first few bands as well.” “Born of Osiris has been a flagship Sumerian artist for almost ten years now,” adds label founder and President Ash Avildsen. “They’re an integral part of the label’s brand and have helped pioneer a sound that is still getting bigger by the day. Most importantly, we consider them family and have shared countless unforgettable days and nights together. We cut this deal on a napkin in Atlanta at 2:00 a.m. inside a very uncanny building. Here’s to many more in the future.”
Born of Osiris is part of a six-band people celebrating the label’s 10 year anniversary, dubbed the 10 Years In The Black Tour. The six-week North American outing also features Asking Alexandria, I See Stars, After The Burial, Upon A Burning Body and Bad Omens. The first date is Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Showbox Sodo in Seattle. Full dates are below.
Born of Osiris released their fourth album, Soul Sphere, in October 2015. In an interview with Alternative Press, keyboardist Joe Buras said the 12-song album was written, with three narratives in mind: “The first one is The Binding. You’re hanging, and you’re stagnant. The second is The Fight. You were hanging, but now you’re pulling away from this linchpin, whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual. The final is The Release. You break away and feel free, connected, and loved.”
