Trinity of Terror Tour Part III At Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena Baltimore, MD 11-15-2022

The ‘Trinity of Terror Part III’ tour made its way to the Baltimore area on Tuesday night with a stop at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena. The tour features Motionless in White, Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides, and special guest Atreyu. This leg of the tour is slated to wrap up on December 12th in Seattle, WA at WAMU Theater.

With four bands on the bill, all of which pretty much playing headlining sets things got off to an early start. Fans braved the cold rain for 5:30 doors and Atreyu kicked things off for the night at 6:30. Atreyu’s latest release was Baptize back in 2021 and the first two songs of the night, “Strange Powers of Prophecy,” and “Baptize” were from the latest release, “Warrior” was the only other song from Baptize to make the setlist. Atreyu played a twelve song set and even slid the Whitney Houston cover of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” in there. The set wrapped up with “Blow” from the 2007 release, Lead Sails Paper Anchor.

Next up for the evening was Motionless in White, the tour seems to be rotating the nightly lineup. By the time MIW broke into “Disguise” the arena was full and fans were ready for a night filled with their favorite bands. This tour the production for MIW was great, the band recently released their sixth studio album, Scoring the End of the World which hit the number one spot on the Billboard US Top Hard Rock Albums, and the number two spot on the US Top Rock Albums charts. The eleven song set had a heavy dose of material from the latest release with “Sign of Life,” “Slaughterhouse,” “Cyberhex,” and “Masterpiece” all making the setlist. As stated earlier this tour for MIW sees a lot more production and seems to be cementing the fact that MIW should be considered a band capable of filling arenas. Chris has a large metal skeleton mic stand, during “Sign of Life” two dancers join the guys on stage with metal grinders that they use to shoot sparks across the stage, guitarist Ryan Stikowski wore a mask that covered his nose and mouth area, the large stage setup with huge LED background, and the lighting and sound is top notch. During “Werewolf” the dancers return to the stage wearing werewolf heads, and Baltimore’s own Saxl Rose joined the guys on stage for an incredible saxophone solo who also happened to be celebrating his birthday. The night saw the dancers return to the stage in various outfits for, “Cyberhex,” “Dead as Fuck,” “Another Life,” and “Eternally Yours” where they tossed roses to the crowd. Motionless in White will wrap up 2022 with a couple dates in Brazil, and will kick off 2023 with the Shiprocked festival and a European tour that will wrap up in Berlin Germany on April 1st.

Horror-inspired Ice Nine Kills were up next. The guys are out touring in support of their sixth studio album, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood release. For those not familiar with the band, they incorporate horror films into each of their songs during the show for example “Hip to Be Scared” has vocalist Spencer Charnas dressed as the main character from American Psycho. Other notable highlights from the ten song set were “IT Is the End” where the band recreates scenes from the movie IT. Things got so crazy during “Ex-Mørtis” that the power went out on stage causing a brief pause in the action. During the outage Spencer talked about all the times INK have played Baltimore and joked about playing to an empty Ottobar. The set wrapped up with “The American Nightmare” from their fifth studio album, The Silver Scream.

Closing out the night were Black Veil Brides. The guys put on an amazing nine song closing set for the packed arena. BVB are out touring in support of their 2021 release, The Phantom Tomorrow only two songs from the latest release made the nights setlist that being, “Crimson Skies,” and “Scarlet Cross.” The rest of the set was a great mix covering the band’s six studio albums. The set wrapped up fittingly with “In the End.”

Overall the ‘Trinity of Terror Part III’ tour is a must see tour. Hopefully each of these bands will continue to tour in 2023.
