Syracuse Crunch Crush Hershey Bears 5-0

The Syracuse Crunch secured a convincing 5-0 victory over the Hershey Bears on February 8, 2025, at Giant Center. Matt Tomkins recorded a shutout, stopping all 16 shots he faced. Spencer Kersten netted his first AHL goal, and Declan Carlile also found the back of the net. The Crunch’s special teams excelled with a strong penalty kill and a successful power play, boosting their season record to 19-16-6-4.

First Period:
9:52: Spencer Kersten scored his first AHL goal, giving the Crunch a 1-0 lead. He stole the puck in the neutral zone and skated in for a wrist shot from the left circle.

The Crunch had several scoring chances but couldn’t convert, finishing the period with a 1-0 lead.

Second Period:
10:57: Declan Carlile scored the second goal for the Crunch. Stevenson made a kick save on a shot from Sheary, but Carlile potted the rebound from the slot.

The Crunch continued to dominate, outshooting the Bears and creating numerous scoring opportunities.

The Crunch’s penalty kill was perfect, going 4-for-4.

Third Period:
7:10: Ryder Korczak scored the third goal for the Crunch. He knocked Tristan Allard’s shot out of the air and hit it off the near post into the net.

The Crunch maintained their strong defensive play, and Matt Tomkins recorded his second shutout of the season, stopping all 16 shots he faced.

The Crunch’s power play was successful, converting on 1-of-3 opportunities.
