Stitched up Heart’s To the Wolves

The female-fronted Los Angeles based heavy rockers, Stitched Up Heart, are releasing their newest album, To The Wolves September 1. They’ve toured and worked with several heavy hitters in the music industry, such as Godsmack, Halestrom, In This Moment and Escape the Fate, with their title album featuring Craig Mabbit and produced by Kevin Thrasher of ETF.

Title track, “To The Wolves” starts out with such a growling, heavy guitar intro, then Mixi’s sultry vocals “I’m not afraid to show you all my teeth, being a loner never bothered me.” Craig Mabbitt joins in with this beautiful Stitched Up heart and Escape the Fate fusion to let the listener know “You’re fucking with a wolf.”

“Possess Me” is my favorite track this entire album, starting it off with a simple beating on the drums. It showcases Mixi’s vocal range in it with all the different tempo changes and melodic changes, showcasing her metal scream and guttural vocals as well as her beautiful vocals. This song has the best breakdown that can only get better if it was live with a “COME AND GET ME” growl.

“Dead Inside” is a great track that everyone can relate to. “I feel the heavy pressure pulling me down. I’m dead inside…don’t know the way to feel alive again.” The lyrics are beautifully written with great accompanying music, this is one of those songs that will be life-saving to others who fight depression or are in a dark place. Coming out of times like that myself, I know this is one of those songs that just being able to express it like this is cathartic and having another person understand what you’re going through, gives light to the end of that tunnel.

This album hits hard and has beautiful lyrics, it’s really showcased the band’s talents and their evolution. It’s out for pre-order and pre-save now, and they’re jumping on tour as their album releases with Escape the Fate, D.R.U.G.S. Point North and Garzi, so make sure you look out for tour dates near you.
