Like many artists, Shinedown is doing their part to keep in connection with their fans and offer something to look forward to while live shows are shut down.. on Friday, August 7th, they released one of their last major shows on YouTube, from their London show in 2019.
As a music journalist, I have the advantage most fans don’t have, where I get to be up close and personal to artists. And yes, I have shaken hands with the great Brent Smith. I have to admit, it’s hard to go to a concert where I’m not covering it, and even more so difficult to watch one on a screen. Having said that, this was an incredible experience!
Shinedown is always great on stage, with their rapid movements, laser lights, and high jumps. This video is great showing the up-close shots. It was captured so beautifully that really captured everything that their live shows offer, and the feeling of being in one of their shows.
The video released also gave an intimate look into the band behind the stage and what it’s like touring and all the preparation that goes into their shows. I loved the peek at how they interact with their fans, how their music impacted their own lives, as well as so many others, and where certain songs came from in the writing process.
This video really is the next best thing than going to one of their shows. The transitions between songs, and the breaks to the bandmates. It was easy to get lost in the show and really experience it, rather than just watching it. The comments on the video had the same mood as a music festival as fans were interacting and excited for the premiere.
