Sheryl Crow's Sheryl: Music from the Feature Documentary Review

9 time Grammy Award Recipient Sheryl Crow released a documentary, entitled Sheryl about her life and career, premiering at SXSW Film Festival prior to its May 6 release on Showtime. In conjunction of the documentary, Sheryl Crow is releasing the soundtrack with it, Sheryl: Music from the Feature Documentary. This album contains all of her hits, deep tracks and new recordings. For any Sheryl Crow fans, this album is the perfect collection of her career works.

“I’m excited for the premiere of my documentary. I hope people will find strength and courage through my story. It was a journey through years of incredible memories and I am proud of the beautiful documentary that Amy Scott made about my life,” says Crow of the documentary release.

The album features live and recorded tracks, I’m interested to see how they’re incorporated into the film to convey different parts and the artist’s life.

On disc 2, there are several artist collaborations that I love. Especially with the bewitched queen herself, Stevie Nicks and Maren Morris with “Prove You Wrong.” The upbeat song is the perfect collaboration to showcase the artists’ voices and how they blend together so perfectly.

“Tell Me When It’s Over” features Chris Stapleton in the bluesy track. This track shows Sheryl’s softer vocals in the relaxed tempo, versus her normal strong, belting vocals. It offers the perfect balance to Stapleton’s gritty vocals.

This week, make sure you check out the documentary, and accompany it with this great collection of Sheryl Crow’s lifetime work, available digitally and on a 2 disc CD set. This album features her hits, as well as deep tracks. I loved all the collaborations she included with several high-level artists, such as Johnny Cash, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton and more. This is just one testament to how successful her career is, and this album, accompanying her new documentary, is the perfect record to showcase Sheryl Crow’s legacy.
