Sevendust Knocks Out Another Killer Album

Not too many bands can create 13 albums, let alone 13 good albums. But, Sevendust have given us another banger. It hits hard, and thanks to Lejon’s soulful voice, it is also a very beautiful album to listen to. I wouldn’t expect anything less from these guys, who have been making memorable music for over 25 years. Blood & Stone is set to release on October 23, 2020 by Rise Records and this album is a must listen. Preorder and get it on platforms like Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube and the bands merch store at https://sevendust.com/.

This legendary band is based out of Atlanta, Georgia and include the majestic, and hauntingly harmonious Lajon Witherspoon (lead vocals), Clint Lowery (guitar vocals), Vince Hornsby (bass), John Connolly (guitar, vocals), Morgan Rose (drums, vocals). They will be touring Australia February 2021 and you can plan on seeing them in the States at the Rock Rebel 2021 Festival. To celebrate the release of the new album they will also be doing a Live in Your Living Room Concert on the day the album releases at 6pm PST. Find their one and only 2020 show at http://sevendust.nocapshows.com/.

The album features 13 songs. Coincidence? I think not! My favorite song on Blood and Stone is “Alone”. The lyrics are deep and super relatable. It flows nicely with what appears to be a consistent theme throughout the album. Which in my opinion appears to focus on the relationships we have through life, and the way they can affect us. It builds up to smooth and even finish, almost like a nice glass of wine. It is one of the softer songs on the album, but definitely one of the best. Another favorite is “Dying to Live”, and it’s the perfect opener. The album also features and closes with a remake of Soundgarden’s “The Day I Tried to Live”. For a remake of a Soundgarden song it’s really good, but for a remake of a Soundgarden song from Sevendust…. eh, it left me wanting more. The band did a great job of paying tribute to this classic, but I felt like it didn’t live up to what I know Lajon is capable of, and that made me sad. Other than that, the instrumentals were killer and it did have a nice Sevendust twist to it.

All in all, the album is really good. Track after track, it will have you rocking out. And if you are and old Sevendust fan, you’ll love that they stay true to what makes them unique. If you are a new fan, you’ll be blown away by their sound and ability to make solid music, time after time, again.

I give this album a 9.5 out of 10.
