Saxon's Inspirations

The British Heavy Metal band, Saxon, is releasing a new album strictly paying homage to rock legends before them that inspire the band for their music. This album of covers has music from AC/DC, Motorhead, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin…any and every classic rocker that any metal head has in their library.

Lead singer, Biff Byford says “We wanted to do an album on our influences, the sons and bands that inspired us to write what we did and still do, and it was also interesting to see what my voice could do as I haven’t sung many of these songs before. We didn’t want to change any of the songs too much, just play them more like Saxon. We also think it’s very important to have–and share with the fans–some fun in these dark times.

I’ve always categorized Saxon with those classic rock legends, so I was so happy to hear them sing all these classic songs. My personal favorites are Rolling Stones’ “Paint it Black” and Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.” The band has also released a BTS video with “Paint It Black.”

This cover album releases March 19. Go download it and give it a listen and enjoy these classics in a Saxon style!
