Sam Poulin Steals the Spotlight with Hat Trick in Penguins’ Big Win

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins achieved a commanding 8-3 victory against the Belleville Senators at Mohegan Sun Arena on March 8, 2025.

First Period:
The Penguins started strong with Rutger McGroarty scoring the opening goal, assisted by Ville Koivunen and Valtteri Puustinen.

Vasily Ponomarev doubled the Penguins’ lead late in the period, with assists from Avery Hayes and Mac Hollowell.

The Senators responded with a goal from Angus Crookshank, assisted by Stephen Halliday and Maxence Guenette, narrowing the score to 2-1.

Second Period:
The Penguins extended their lead with three more goals, showcasing their offensive dominance.

The Senators managed to add one goal, keeping the game within reach but still trailing 5-2 by the end of the period.

Third Period:
The Senators struck early with Zack MacEwen scoring just 1:14 into the period, assisted by Cole Reinhardt, bringing the score to 5-3.

The Penguins quickly regained control, with Sam Poulin scoring twice in quick succession, assisted by Nikolai Knyzhov, Joona Koppanen, and Matt Nieto.

Poulin completed his hat trick with a final goal in the closing seconds, assisted by Ville Koivunen and Tristan Broz, sealing the Penguins’ commanding 8-3 victory.
